Decided to pick up a 5er of these from atlanticcigars. Didnt know anything about them except what the site said:
"Pinar Del Río Habano Oscuro; Pinar Del Río Oscuro is rolled for the dark wrapper enthusiast. Utilizing a maduro wrapper leaf, Oscuro is a strong cigar that is supremely clean, a rare feat that is seldom accomplished by cigar factories today. with a silky texture."
I picked up the Oscuro ones. Heres my review:
Appearance: Very well rolled dark torp with little to no viens
Prelight: subtle smell of leather and spice
Paired with: Kirin stout
Cut: easy cut with a well constructed torp cap
First quarter: Starts well with a good amount of strength at the outset.
Flavors: Leather, woody and spicy with a very clean finish
Burn: pretty much straight with a salt and pepper ash
Second quarter: Strength and body increase
Flavors: still has the leather but the spice increases
Burn: still an even burn with a great draw and long hanging non-flakey ash
Third quarter: strength increased again but no change to the flavor profile
Burn: still even though a slight hang up on the top 5th of the cigar, easily corrected with a slight touch up and rolling the cigar
Last Quarter: Stength hits hard and the finish is still clean
Burn: still even and no problems after the touch up
Overall: This cigar hit me harder than expected leaving slight light headedness, wish I had a heavier meal before, clean finish didnt cause any carry over to the outstanding stout. Great construction and burn. 9 out if 10
