Im not much of small cigar smoker. But I was recently given a 6 pack of Davidoff Primeros from a local B&M here in Japan. Davidoff is the most popular non cuban cigar brand here. These are apparently new and are fetching a hefty price tag of 4,500 yen for a tin of 6 (about $50). Heres a scaled down review to match this scaled down cigar.

Cigar: Davidoff Primeros
Maker: Davidoff
Size: 4 1/8 X 38

Background:Davidoff's new light and mild Primeros are the perfect cigar for the connoisseur on the run. The Petite Panatela format is perfect for someone looking to sample Davidoff's mild, aromatic blends or for the avid smoker who needs a fine cigar in a smaller, less time consuming size.

Appearance: well constructed little cigar with a smoke wrapper:
Band: mormal davidoff white and gold

Impressions: I didnt break this one down to 3rds like normal due to the site of the cigar. This was a exceptionally mild cigar that has a clean somewhat plain taste. As pantelas go the construction was top notch, but it didnt satisfy my want for a cigar. And although these are available in the states for $25 a tin the price point isnt justified.

6 outta 10

Nice review, but damn that's steep for a pack. What other NC's are popular in Japan, and what's the price difference between Cubans and NC's?

cigars a pricery here no matter what, a Monte #4 goes for a about $10 a stick. But as for NC there really arent alot of ones that are marketed. The most popular valuepriced stick is Santa Damaina but for NC sales its pretty much all davidoff, due to the popularity of the cigarettes. For the few cognoscenti here the NC of choice seem to be Ashton VSG/ESG and Cabinet as well as Griffens and AVO these are because they are marketed by the same distributers for the most Monte, RyJ and Partagas ISOMS.

I've always thought that NC companies should market there products more outside the US, I think they think that they can't compete against Cubans. It's kind of sad, because there are so many good NC's that are being produced.

its part of the theory behind me opening a B&M here I want to cater to the outstanding sticks that dont get marketed here. Make the shop a niche for hard to get items.

Thanks for the review! That's expensive for such a small cigar!

WOW how many cigars does that make today--I can't get out the house but only once a day to smoke one unless early AM and I crack a window and close the door--wife would shot me--Nice review
