With all the hype surrounding the LX2 and the MX2 being a popular stick. I thought I revisit a CX2. I have a few these aging in the humi for about a year now. Heres the review
Cigar: CAO CX2 Torp
Maker: CAO
Size: 7 X 56
Wrapper: Cameroon
Binder: Cameroon
Filler: Nic, Colombia
Background:The CAO CX2 is a super-premium vitola with a
high-grade Cameroon wrapper and a rare Cameroon binder. The interior blend is a rich toothy mixture of Nicaraguan and Columbian long filler. Taste wise the CX2 is medium-bodied and smooth with a nice earthy aroma. The flavor provided by the heavy dose of Cameroon tobacco is sweet and fragrant like freshly brewed cappuccino. (Holts)
Appearance: dark big torpedo with some pronounced veins
Band: Brown with gold lettering and two holes on the sides
Construction: Heavey and firm with a veiny torp head
Prlight: strong aroma with notes of coffee and peat
Cut: took alot to cut this big boy but cut was clean using Dolan and Bullock cigar scissors
Prelight Draw: tight should burn slow
Paired with: Kirin Beer (japanese)
Initial light: toothy as with most cameroon wrappers, coffee evident as well as leather very aromatic
Draw: not bad a little tight
Burn: easy light with AB burner
First 3rd: medium bodied with a nice flavor hints of coffee and dried wood throughout
Ash: light gray with some dark streaks
Burn: slightly uneven might pose a problem later
Draw: loosened up a bit
Second 3rd: medium bodied flavor is consistent coffee and wood is more pronounced
Ash: didnt hold as long as I had hoped
Burn: needed a touch up but then evened out
Draw: same
Final 3rd: body is the same flavors became more intense with a peatiness that lingered on the palate
Ash: light gray
Burn: even all the way to the end
Draw: loosened up nicely
Impressions: I legitmately good cigar not as good as the MX2 in my opinion. A sweet tang to it and ofcourse toothy. Holts is running special on these and they maybo worht a pick up.
