I actually enjoy some rojos Black pearl and jamaican godl to name a few. So I ordered some smokes for atlantic and they sent me some Spanish galleon rojo robustos for free. Now I cant never caomplain about free so I fired one up a this review.
Cigar: Spanish Galleon Rojo
Made:Unknown (atlantic house maybe)
Size: robusto 5 X 50
Filler: DR,Nic
Binder: DR Cubano 98
Wrapper: Corojo
Basckground:What a smoke! These are a pre-release and currently available in a 5.50x46 Corona, 5x54 Robusto, 7x50 Churchill, 6x54 Toro, 6.50x52 Torpedo, 6x60 Gordo size. A rich full bodied blend that quality and flavor will rival any of the new full bodied blends on the market, even better then most of the cigars that fall in the $5-$10 range. Each cigar is rolled just like the Cubans, with a triple cap construction and then each packaged in a cedar sleeve. If you like Don Pepin Garcia & Tatuaje style cigars then you will love this blend! Will be available in boxes soon. A cigar that agings exceptionally well, removing the cello and allowing them to age a bit with there cedar sleeve, flavors marriage nicely.
(atlantic cigar)
Appearance: Reddish brown wrapper with a triple cap. Wrapped in a cedar sleeve. Somewhat bumpy and veiny. Well filled and a little heavey in the hand considering the size.
Band: Cheesy art of a spanish galleon (go figure)
Prelight: peppery aroma with little hay thrown in
Cut: clean cut using my Dollan Bulloc scissors
Draw: easy draw might cause it to burn hot
Paired with: Santiago de cuba Cuban rum.
Initial light: peppery and spicy on first draw
used: Sarome table lighter
First 3rd: spicy with a acidic finish good amount of kick to it, hits at the back of the throat
draw: effortless will probably burn hot
Ash: dark greay with black streaks a little flakey
Burn: slightly uneven but nothing that will require fixing yet
second 3rd: still spicy and full bodied but vey one dimensional and the acidicy is not leaving a good impression. the rum is good however
Draw: still effortless maybe even too loose
Ash: same dark grey with sonsiderable more flake ask didnt make it past 1 1/2 inch before dropping (in my lap)
Burn: more uneven now needed a touch up and a roll
Final 3rd: cigar doesnt change just hits hard with no nuances, reminds me a diable picante
Draw: loose
Ash: flakey with constant attention needed:
Burn: hot at the fingers probably wont nub this one
Impression: I usually dont expect much out of bundle cigars. And this one didnt give me much. Not impressed and am hard pressed to see why they would compare this to tats or peps.
