Cigar: El Triunfador Lanceros
Origin: Nicaragua
Size: 7.5 x 38
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Strength: Medium / Full
Pre-Smoke: I have recently become a fan of the Lancero size. This cigar has a very nice wrapper, A few veins that caused concerns but with the look of a dark piece of chocolate and a woodsy smell, it seems everything would be just fine. After clipping the Cuban style cap pigtail the draws seem at first that the draw would be a problem but soon after the light it was just the opposite. Sweet vanilla, wood and spice hit my taste buds immediately. I really enjoy all of the spices from the start.
Smoke: Many notes of spices after lighting the cigar.. Nuts, cinnamon and Leather where prominent in the taste and smell of the cigar. When approaching the 2nd. Half of the cigar there was a slight hint of vanilla and cinnamon and both spices really picked up the intensity of the cigar and the taste of Chocolate and Leather. The burn was excellent during the entire cigar. No problems with heat, just all a great smoking cigar. At the end of this cigar the flavors of chocolate, leather intensified and can not wait to torch another. All of the flavors and spices were in my flavor range and profile.
Overall: My overall impressions of this cigar are very positive. The cigar is constructed very well and proved itself as the burn was flawless. I did have a couple of re-lights as I was doing this review due to my typing and smoking it. This did not take away from my over all rating and feelings, taste and impressions of this smoke. The flavors were all within my flavor profile as stated above and really enjoyed this cigar very much. I am a big Pete Johnson fan and really enjoy his dedication to producing his cigars. I would love to check this cigar out after a year or so of age on them.
Rating: 92
Price: $9.00
I was gifted this stick for Christmas and have to say it was all I had expected and more. This is why I feel Pete Johnson will go far in this industry as he already has in my opinion. You will never be displeased with anything he puts his name on. I look forward to the larger rings if they do come out. I think the price could be better and in hopes that this will soon be a priority of his. On another point I would request that the new lines not be in limited production and was wondering why this is becoming a trend. .
